Updating and Uninstalling

Basics · free

AITerm's direct download channel uses Sparkle for app updates. You can also reinstall manually from the latest DMG.

Update with Sparkle

Use Check for Updates… in Settings ▸ Terminal ▸ Software Update, which also shows your current version and an Automatically install updates toggle. That toggle is off by default: instead of installing on its own, AITerm shows a gentle "Update ready" badge and lets you install when you choose. AITerm also checks for updates on its own periodically.

Homebrew users can update with:

brew upgrade --cask ai-term

A newly released version does not change the copy already installed on your Mac until you actually update — so if you just saw an announcement but still see the old version, that's expected; run the updater or the Homebrew command above.

Manual reinstall

To reinstall manually:

  1. Download the latest DMG from ai-term.com.
  2. Quit AITerm.
  3. Open the DMG.
  4. Drag AITerm into Applications, replacing the old copy.
  5. Launch AITerm.

An installed app does not change just because a new DMG exists online. You still need Sparkle, Homebrew, or a manual reinstall.

Uninstall

To remove the app, quit AITerm and move it from Applications to Trash.

AITerm stores app data under the app data directory used by AppDataDirectory. That directory contains configuration, history, audit logs, runbooks, workspace data, and local sidecar files. The exact location can change through migration code, so use the app's Reveal actions where available before deleting data manually.

Provider secrets are stored in the macOS Keychain. Removing the app bundle does not necessarily remove Keychain items.
